Last Friday, RMS for Girls welcomed renowned author A.F. Steadman, who visited our pupils in Years 4-8 to talk about her newest book, Skandar and the Skeleton Curse, released just the day before on October 10th.
A.F. Steadman is widely celebrated for her Skandar series, with her debut novel, Skandar and the Unicorn Thief, gaining international recognition and winning the Waterstones Children’s Book of the Year in 2022. For our pupils, the opportunity to meet her in person was a wonderful way to connect with the books they’ve loved reading.
Gathered in The Great Hall, RMS pupils, along with 90 guests from Rickmansworth Park School, listened eagerly as Steadman shared her journey as a writer and offered a look into the creative process behind the Skandar series.
After her talk, Steadman took the time to sign copies of her books, giving each pupil a personal memento from the day. Meeting a favourite author up close was an inspiring moment for many, instilling an even greater enthusiasm for reading and storytelling.
