We are absolutely bursting with pride as we share the news that RMS Alumna Megan Boxall has officially crossed the finish line of her “Run Britain” challenge!
On Saturday morning, Megan ran onto the sands of Sizewell Beach in Suffolk, returning to the very spot where she began her journey 204 days ago. In doing so, she has become the fastest woman to run the entire coastline of Great Britain, obliterating the previous record by a staggering 97 days.
The Numbers Behind the Feat
Megan’s journey was nothing short of superhuman. Over the course of nearly seven months, she faced the best and worst of the British elements to achieve:
- 5,240 miles covered.
- 200 marathons completed in just 204 days.
- Over £57,000 raised for Samaritans (and counting!).
- 8 million steps and 83,600 metres of elevation.
More Than Just a Run
While the record is historic, Megan’s “why” has always been about more than just the miles. Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Megan shared how the challenge was a way to celebrate her resilience following her diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and a period of mental health crisis.
Her mission was to give back to Samaritans, the charity she describes as a “lifeline” during her darkest moments. By sharing her story on social media and national television, she has sparked vital conversations about mental health and proved that a diagnosis does not define your limits.
A Community Effort
From the “inner Firth of Forth” to the windy cliffs of John O’Groats, Megan wasn’t alone. She was accompanied by her faithful dog, Shadow, and supported by a “coastline community” of strangers and friends who offered beds, warm meals, and running company. Even on her final day, after finishing her 200th marathon, Megan showed her incredible spirit by immediately joining the local Parkrun to finish exactly where she started.
What’s Next?
The RMS community knows Megan as a trailblazer, and she isn’t stopping here. She has already set her sights on her next goal: attempting the world record for the fastest marathon run by a woman with MS later this year.
Megan, you have inspired us all with your courage, your vulnerability, and your sheer determination. Huge congratulations on this monumental achievement!
