At RMS for Girls, we are passionate about connecting with nature and learning more about the wildlife around us. That’s why our Nursery and Prep School pupils were thrilled to take part in this year’s RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2025, the UK’s largest citizen science project for schools.

Organised annually by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), the RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2025 encourages schoolchildren to observe and count the birds in their school grounds. This simple yet impactful activity helps scientists track bird populations and provides valuable insights into conservation efforts. Taking place from January to February, it offers schools a flexible opportunity to engage pupils with nature while linking to their science curriculum.

Our young birdwatchers had a fantastic time spotting and identifying the different birds that share our beautiful school grounds. We were delighted to receive two certificates from the RSPB, including one signed by Sir David Attenborough—a wonderful recognition of our pupils’ efforts and engagement in wildlife conservation.

Now, the big question remains: Which bird will be the most sighted in Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2025? We can’t wait to find out and to take part again next year!
