The start of this school year has been truly memorable at RMS as we proudly reopened The Great Hall for the first time since November 2021.

Today marked a milestone as Senior and Sixth Form students gathered for the first assembly of the new term in this grand, historic space. Headteacher Mr Carson delivered inspiring words, using the opportunity to remind each and every pupil that RMS is a place where they belong and are valued.

The assembly also featured the premiere of Fanfare for the Reopening of the Great Hall, a stirring composition by Mr Werner, performed beautifully by Izzy M and Izzy H.

The beginning of Michaelmas term always signals new beginnings and fresh starts, but this year feels especially symbolic as we step back into the heart of our school. The Great Hall is once again ready to welcome the RMS community, and we can’t wait to share this space with everyone throughout the year.

Did you know? The Great Hall is not just a school treasure — it was also a filming location for the iconic film Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), adding a touch of cinematic history to its already legendary status.
