The History, Politics, and English departments recently joined forces to take the girls on a sweeping tour of the US East Coast. From the halls of power in Washington D.C. to the bustling streets of New York and the historic charm of Boston, the trip was a brilliant blend of academic enrichment, cultural exploration, and plenty of memorable photo ops.

The adventure kicked off in Washington D.C. with an atmospheric evening walking tour. Walking in the footsteps of giants, the girls visited the Lincoln Memorial, taking a powerful moment to stand exactly where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his legendary “I Have a Dream” speech. The evening continued with reflective stops at the Vietnam War, Korean War, and Second World War memorials.

Monuments and Memories in D.C.

Day two offered a slightly more relaxed pace as the group explored the Tidal Basin. The girls spent time unwinding by the Jefferson Memorial and taking in the striking architecture of the Franklin D. Roosevelt and Martin Luther King Jr. memorials, as well as the iconic Iwo Jima monument.

We Came, We Saw, We Posed with Local Law

The third and final full day in the capital was all about politics and power. The students posed in front of Congress, the US Supreme Court, and the White House, even snapping a few fantastic photos with local law enforcement and the National Guard. There was time for a bit of shopping and the surprisingly exciting sighting of a yellow U.S. school bus, before finishing off a busy day by relaxing under the Washington Monument.

Time to take a bite out of the Big Apple!

Day four began with a breezy ride on the Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan, followed by a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.

After fueling up on authentic New York pizza, the group headed to Wall Street. The absolute highlight was posing alongside the “Fearless Girl” statue, the perfect symbol for our students and a brilliant reminder of female empowerment and girl power right in the center of the financial district! The NYC leg was capped off with a fantastic photo op with the New York Fire Service.

Baseball, Boston, and Beyond

The final chapter of the trip took us to Boston, where the itinerary perfectly balanced sports, academics, and art. The girls visited Fenway Park, the oldest baseball stadium in the US, before touring the prestigious grounds of Harvard University. Channeling even more of that fierce female energy, they posed in front of the iconic “We Can Do It!” poster – a fantastic celebration of the power of women. The academic side of the Boston tour wrapped up with a beautiful visit to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Of course, an itinerary this packed wouldn’t be possible without a brilliant team keeping us on track. A massive thank you to our incredible teaching staff for organising, supervising, and supporting the trip every step of the way, as well as our beloved coach driver, Richard, and our wonderful guide, Sonya, for keeping everyone safe, informed, and smiling throughout the journey. It was a trip the girls will not soon forget!
