As well as managing the demands of their GCSE studies, Lily and Neve both spend many hours training each week, and their hard work and dedication have been rewarded with a call up to perform at the Dance World Cup in Portugal.
Lily will be competing in not only three group dances but also, following her successful audition in London earlier this month, one solo dance for Team England at the Dance World Cup. She will be performing in the Pointe, Jazz and Commerical group dances and her solo performance is in the Modern category.
Neve is competing in two group dances – in the Commercial and Contemporary categories.
Each year, over 20,000 competitors from 54 countries compete at their country qualifiers and at the World Finals. This is the biggest all-genre dance competition in the world for children and young adults and has been described as "the best quality children and youth dance competition in the world". Genres include ballet, tap. modern and contemporary, hiphop and street dance, jazz and showdance and others.
This is a tremendous achievement for both students and the whole School wishes Lily and Neve lots of luck – we look forward to bringing you news of how they get on in the summer.
