At RMS, we always encourage our students to find their passion and push their boundaries. Today, we are incredibly proud to share the story of one of our alumnae, Megan Boxall, who is currently undertaking a breathtaking feat of endurance and heart: running the entire coastline of Great Britain.

Megan is currently 181 days (at time of writing) into a monumental challenge: 200 marathons in 200 days. Covering over 5,000 miles, she is on track to become the fastest woman to ever run the British coastline. But for Megan, this journey is about much more than just a world record.

The Spark of an Idea

Megan’s inspiration for this adventure actually began right here at RMS.

“The background of doing this stems from when I was 10 years old at RMS,” Megan recalls. “My uncle (Tom Isaacs) walked around the coast of Britain having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, and he came in to speak at RMS Prize Day, which was incredibly exciting”  Megan recalls.  “it’s been in the back of my mind as something I’ve wanted to do ever since.”

While the seed was planted during her school days, it wasn’t until recently that Megan found her “why.” After facing significant challenges with her mental health and a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2024, Megan found solace in the rhythm of her trainers on the pavement and the salty air of the coast.

Running for a Reason

When struggling with her mental health, Megan relied heavily on the Samaritans, a charity she is now raising vital funds for. She noticed that the “fog” of her mental health struggles began to lift whenever she was out running.

“On the 11th of January 2025, it finally came to me: that was my reason for doing it,” Megan says. “I wanted to run the coast to celebrate running in Britain and to be as positive as possible.”

By the time she finishes her loop at Sizewell Beach in May, Megan will have run roughly 5,240 miles, keeping the sea on her left-hand side for the entire journey. She has been joined along the way by her faithful dog, Shadow, and a community of supporters that has grown to over 3,500 followers online.

An Inspiration for the next Generation

Megan’s journey is a testament to resilience, and she is already looking forward to sharing her experiences with current students.

I know I’d have liked to have seen a woman doing something like this when I was at school”

We are cheering Megan on as she enters the final stretch of her 200-day journey. Her courage to speak openly about mental health and her physical determination are an inspiration to us all.
