At RMS, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. This term, our Year 12 students have been putting our values into action by stepping out into the local community as part of a dedicated community volunteering programme.

The initiative has seen our students visiting and practically supporting a diverse range of local charities and organisations in the Rickmansworth, Croxley, and Chorleywood areas.

Over the course of the programme, the girls have partnered with an incredible variety of sectors, including:
Elderly Care & Community: Bringing companionship and energy to the residents at Burford House Care Home (Westgate Healthcare) and Chorleywood Manor Care Home (Avery Healthcare).
Sustainability & Retail: Supporting operations at 9Lives Furniture Charity and helping out at the Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care Shop in Rickmansworth.
Local Heritage & Education: Engaging with the Rickmansworth Waterways Trust and assisting younger pupils at Charlotte House Prep.

Growing these local links benefits our students just as much as the charities they serve. Through these visits, the students are gaining invaluable, real-world life skills, discovering the vital inner workings of the care and charity sectors, and developing a deep respect for these essential professions.

We are incredibly proud of the commitment, empathy, and hard work our Year 12s have demonstrated. Looking ahead, we are keen to expand this volunteering programme in the coming academic year to make an even greater local impact.

Can we help you?
If you run a local charity, community group, or social enterprise in the Rickmansworth, Croxley, or Chorleywood area and could benefit from an enthusiastic group of students helping out, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with our Mrs Liz Pickford, Head of Futures’ at RMS, to explore how we can work together – epickford@rmsforgirls.com.
