On Monday evening, we were delighted to host our first-ever Community Iftar, bringing together families and staff from across the RMS community to break the fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

The event was a resounding success, with all tickets selling out and one parent even flying back from Saudi Arabia a week early just to attend!

The evening began with powerful testimonies from some of our Muslim students, who shared the significance of Sawm (fasting in Ramadan) and its impact on their mindset, behavior, and spiritual growth. Ramadan is a time for deep reflection, generosity, and devotion—values that were beautifully expressed through their words.

We were also privileged to welcome Fahim from Sufra, a London-based charity that tackles food poverty and social isolation. His talk highlighted the vital role of zakat (charitable giving) and the importance of community in Islam. If you would like to support Sufra’s important work, please see the poster below for details on how to donate.

As the sun set, one of our parents delivered a stirring adhan (call to prayer)—a true highlight of the evening. We then broke our fast with dates and water before sharing a delicious meal, generously prepared by our catering team.

The event was a wonderful celebration of faith and community, with many attendees expressing how deeply moved they were by the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. It was inspiring to hear from our students about their experiences of Ramadan and their faith, providing them with a meaningful space to share their identities as young Muslims in Britain.

A huge thank you to the parents, pupils, and staff who helped bring this event to life. We hope this will be the first of many opportunities to celebrate faith, culture, and interfaith dialogue at RMS.
