RMS Alumna (2024) Hannah Recently Updated Us on Her Degree Apprenticeship Journey in Human Resources with Amazon and How RMS Sixth Form Supported Her Transition into the Corporate World.

Firstly, I wanted to say thank you to RMS Sixth Form in general, as every opportunity we had to develop skills both inside and outside of the classroom has helped me settle into the corporate world well.

As I am one of two 18-year-olds in a team of 70 people across Europe, without the skills that I developed at RMS, it would have been a much bigger challenge settling in. I have even received positive feedback at how mature I am, which I can only credit RMS for!

I have just returned from my first business trip to Milan, where I met the main team that I am working with. Currently, I am assisting the Spanish HR Team, which supports over 5000 employees between 8 of us!

As part of the apprenticeship, we do 6-month rotations around different European regions in order to provide us with a wide variety of experience. My first placement is in the Spanish team, as I mentioned, but I will soon be supporting both the UK and Germany. As part of my role as a HR Regional Partner, a role which I believe is Amazon-specific, I take on cases such as performance management, local legislation/policy guidance, compensation changes, talent management, and so much more! It is a great opportunity.

I can’t deny that being an apprentice has a lot of challenges but the opportunities I have had presented to me completely outweigh these!

In my old school, I was too nervous to even ask questions during classes: this changed at RMS as I became more confident, and has now been so beneficial for me in Amazon (especially as I attempt to navigate employment law in Spain).

Thank you to Hannah for giving us an insightful update on your degree apprenticeship experience, life in the corporate world and inspiring our current RMS Sixth Formers.
