In September, a team of 19 runners made up of Sixth Formers, staff (including Headmaster Kevin Carson, Senior Deputy Head Rachel Bailey, Head of Sixth Form Clare Freeman and Assistant Head Desmond Cox) and a parent  will be tackling The Great North Run and raising money for the Prefect's Charity, which this year is The Rainbow Trust.

The team, made up of mainly novice runners, is demonstrating all of the school values in their commitment and determination to train for this event.  Mrs Freeman and the Year 12s have been running every Wednesday lunchtime, and each week the team has increased their distance, running in all weathers. Staff have also been training and you can find Ms Bailey donning her running kit on Tuesdays after school and Mr Carson hitting the tarmac on a weekend.

All members of the team are running to raise money for the Prefect Charity, The Rainbow Trust and would be grateful for any level of sponsorship to help them all keep training over the next few months. The whole school community is hugely proud of the team and their efforts to get involved and get running #thisRMSGirlcan!

About The Rainbow Trust

The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity enables families who have a child with a life threatening illness to make the most of precious time together; providing expert practical and emotional support, where they need it, for as long as it is needed. £26 will provide one hour of care, enough time to entertain a seriously ill child so that their parents can have a break.
