RMS for Girls is delighted to announce another exceptional year of A-level results. What truly stands out is the vast array of exciting opportunities our students are undertaking. The variety of destinations and courses is a testament to our school’s commitment to enabling every pupil to thrive and shape their unique future.
To celebrate this success, we spoke with members of the class of 2025 to learn about their exciting next steps and how RMS has played a pivotal role in shaping their futures.
Here’s Rhea’s story:
I’m Rhea, and currently in Year 13 and started my RMS journey in Year 7. I’m the enterprise prefect and Deputy Head of House for Cumberland. I study Chemistry, Economics and Psychology at A-level and I aspire to be a commercial solicitor.
Can you tell us a bit about what the role involves and what made you apply to Forsters?
Solicitors can practice in many areas of law including Real Estate, Construction, Commercial, Corporate, Family and Immigration. The role involves working with clients to advise and represent them regarding their legal jurisdictions providing the best outcomes for their needs. I chose to apply to Forsters as it is a leading London law firm with high profile clients focusing on areas of practice that I wish to pursue.
What attracted you to the solicitor apprenticeship route over the traditional university path?
By completing an apprenticeship you can “learn while you earn”. This means working a salaried job alongside studying part time at university. The company pays for your tuition fees meaning you can graduate with no student debt. It is a good option for those wanting a more hands on experience rather than solely academic. It provides a different route to realise your goals.
How did you feel when you found out you’d been offered the position?
Upon receiving the call to tell me I had been offered a place I felt ecstatic, over the moon and excited to be offered a position at such a prestigious company. With nearly 1000 applicants for four vacancies the competition was tough but I’m glad I rose to the challenge so that I can now fulfil my dream.
What advice would you give to other students considering a solicitor apprenticeship instead of going to university?
My advice to other students who wish to apply for an apprenticeship would be to:
- Research the firms you wish to apply for
- Plan your applications possibly using a spreadsheet so you meet the deadlines
- Discipline yourself with time management so you can balance your school work with the application process
- Show your passion throughout the process as there may be many stages to complete for the selection process
- And finally don’t be disheartened if there are rejections along the way.
How did your time at RMS help prepare you for this opportunity and support you during the application process?
RMS has been really supportive in helping me pursue a solicitor apprenticeship pathway. Ms Pickford has been instrumental in my journey from helping with the initial application form to conducting a mock interview for my final assessment centre. It was at the apprenticeship evening held at RMS that I learned what an apprenticeship was and realised that this was the pathway for me. The weekly futures bulletins contain a lot of valuable information and other staff members, especially my form tutor, have been supportive throughout the whole process.
