Mrs. Bentham, the Head of Music at Cadogan, took advantage of the Easter break to pay a visit to Heather Wood, a former student of RMS, in Broadstairs, Kent.
During the visit, Heather donated her exquisite French violin, along with several smaller violins, a clarinet, and some music books to RMS.
Heather left RMS in 1958, and that same year, she was given the violin by the Masonic Trust. She still cherishes the letter that accompanied the violin from the dealer, Charles Beare, which was addressed to her music teacher.
We spent a lovely morning with Heather. She had some fabulous pictures of her time at the school, and we were able to show her some recent pictures of the school site. She talked with great fondness of her time at RMS, and it was interesting to hear that Cadogan House used to be the Sanitarium!
- Mrs Bentham
After having a thriving career with the Met Office, Heather worked as a laboratory technician at a school. Despite giving up playing the violin, she remains an accomplished bell ringer and takes pleasure in ringing bells at her nearby church.
We eagerly anticipate Heather’s return and are deeply appreciative of her generous contribution to the pupils of Cadogan House at RMS.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Bentham and the Development team, who facilitated this wonderful gesture.
