A group of A Level Business Studies students, led by Mrs Loring, has been working on a programme for a charity suit drive, with the aim of collecting and distributing suits and other work clothing to assist people getting back into work.
The group is working with two charities, "Suited &Booted" and "Smart Works", and so far have collected approximately 75 suits and items of clothing from people in the RMS community.
This is another fantastic example of promoting the RMS values, and encouraging the girls to understand how they can contribute to the local Community. This latest initiative comes on the back of the successful food bank drive.
We are especially delighted to report that we have just been informed by one of the charities that a candidate wearing one of our donated suits has been successful at a recent job interview; we are delighted to have been able to make a small difference to someone, and hope that this success the first of many
A representative of "Suited & Booted" said "We very much appreciate the clothing collection organised by The Royal Masonic School for Girls. It is wonderful that the sShool’s A level Business students have integrated this into their course. All the items collected will help our vulnerable clients to look the part and feel the part for their job interviews, and in taking their next steps into the world of work. Enormous thanks from Suited & Booted!"
A spokesperson for Smart Works also showed their appreciation: "Thank you so much to the students and staff at The Royal Masonic School for Girls for supporting Smart Works by organising a suit drive. At Smart Works, our clients are referred to us from organisations such as job centres, work programmes, prisons, care homes, homeless shelters and mental health charities. Half have been unsuccessful in over 20 applications. A third have been turned down from over 50 jobs. All are suffering from a lack of confidence in their own abilities. But through the power of clothes, we give our clients the confidence, the self-belief and the practical tools required to succeed at interview and transform their lives. 60% get the job within a month. This would not be possible without such generous donations, so thank you for joining us on our mission to transform the lives of women in need. We are incredibly grateful for your support.'
Thank you to everyone who so kindly donated to the Suit Drive – we look forward to bringing you more success stories from those we have helped.
