A Critical and Ethical Approach to Innovation

Our commitment to the responsible integration of Artificial Intelligence is about more than just using new gadgets; it is about teaching our students to navigate the digital world with a critical eye.

The assessment highlighted several areas where RMS is leading the way:

    • Leadership & Vision: Our Digital Strategy at RMS ensures that AI use is joined up with our core values of ambition and inclusion, with safe and ethical use at its core.
    • Student Leadership: Our Digital Leaders and AI Champions play a vital role in keeping discussions about AI safety relevant and engaging for their peers.
    • AI in the Classroom: The Quality Mark report celebrated how our teachers are bringing AI to life across the curriculum, such as using Gemini to support creative processes in Textiles, or using Gems to hold conversations with historical figures in Classics.
  • Inclusion: We are prioritising the needs of all learners by exploring the use of accessibility tools to support our SEND and EAL students.
  • Administrative Efficiency: We are even using AI to be more efficient and inclusive behind the scenes, such as using translation tools to better support our international families.

Looking Ahead

While we are incredibly proud of this Silver award, we view it as a solid base for further growth. Our next steps involve embedding our approach to AI more consistently across departments to enhance teaching and learning, and maintaining regular communication across the RMS community to help all stay informed and involved.

We look forward to continuing this journey with our students, staff, and parents.

“The Royal Masonic School for Girls has put forward a strong application… their pedagogy-first approach ensures that AI and technical tools don’t overshadow the need for human thinking.”
