Today, RMS welcomed the expert educators from Happening History for a captivating Medieval Life Workshop designed specifically for our Year 7 pupils.

The day provided a vivid, hands-on supplement to their History curriculum, allowing the students to step out of their textbooks and into the world of the 12th to 15th centuries.

Pupils were given the unique opportunity to handle and wear replicas of historical artefacts. Excited pupils tested the weight of steel breastplates, donned chainmail coifs, and tried on various styles of medieval headwear, from peasant hoods to noble chaperons.

Beyond the armour, the workshop delved into the social history of the era. The group learned about the complexities of medieval medicine, the evolution of fashion, and the daily chores and responsibilities of people across different social classes. By engaging with these physical objects, students gained a deeper understanding of the physical and social challenges faced by those living in medieval England.

The day left Year 7 with a wealth of new knowledge and plenty of stories to share. Thank you to Happening History for providing such an enriching and entertaining experience!
