Congratulations to Claudia, Year 12, as she has earned herself a well-deserved spot on the Saracens Mavericks Futures U18 Netball Team.
This fantastic achievement is not just down to talent, but a great example of determination and the desire to become the best you can be.
Hear from Claudia as she reflects on her call up:
How long have you been playing Netball at RMS? Are you currently involved in any of the RMS Netball Squads?
I joined RMS in Year 9 and have played in the school A team since then, and I am now in the senior A team.
Do you play any other sports at RMS?
I also play in the senior hockey team as well as the tennis team for the school.
What was the selection process to be selected for the Mavericks and how did you feel when you found you had been successful?
There was a trial at the beginning of summer for the team.
I was very happy to be selected for this very competitive team as Mavericks had reduced their number of Futures teams this year which meant more people trialling for fewer spaces
What will being part of the team entail going forward? What excites you most about being part of the Mavericks?
There is a weekly 2 hour training session, match play days throughout the season, and the team is part of a league, as well playing against the other Futures teams from different areas.
Being in this team allows me to improve my skills and develop connections on court with other players who I have never played with before.
RMS has helped me through the coaching and match opportunities that come with being in the school team and which have helped me improve all aspects of my play
At RMS, we’re all about nurturing the individual, and Claudia’s accomplishment is a testament to that.
