This October half-term, RMS students embarked on an unforgettable journey through Malaysia, led by RMS staff and the educational team at World Expeditions.

This 11-day adventure, packed with challenges and awe-inspiring natural beauty, took students out of their comfort zones and into the heart of Malaysian conservation.

The students began with a visit to the Batu Caves and immersed themselves in Batek culture. They then headed to the stunning Pangkor Island for turtle and beach conservation projects, actively contributing to efforts to protect these endangered marine creatures and clean up local shores. The team also joined mangrove planting initiatives, helping to restore Malaysia’s vital coastal ecosystems, and participated in seedling and tree planting programs aimed at revitalising the country’s tropical rainforests.

Students practiced teamwork, leadership, and outdoor skills as they set up camp, prepared meals, and learned about conservation. Alongside these adventures, they enjoyed moments of cultural immersion, discovering Malaysian hospitality and traditions.

Throughout the journey, students gained invaluable skills: confidence in leading, resilience through mental and physical challenges, and a newfound appreciation for environmental preservation.

This trip provided lasting memories and the chance to foster deep friendships with both their peers and local communities—experiences that will resonate long after their return.

A huge thank you to our Science and Sixth Form Departments for their incredible dedication in planning these unforgettable opportunities!
