We are delighted to celebrate our Year 11 cohort’s brilliant GCSE results as pupils, families, and friends came together in Hind House, home to the RMS Sixth Form, to mark this important milestone.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ achievements, which stand well above the national averages. This year, an outstanding 20% of all RMS GCSE results were at the top grade 9, four times the national average of 5%. Additionally, 40% of our results were graded 9-8 (A* equivalent), while 59% were graded 9-7 (A*-A equivalent), which is more than double the national average of 23% for this grade range.
This success is particularly meaningful as it comes at a time when the UK’s national pass rate (grades 4/C and above) has seen another slight decrease, falling to 67.4% in 2025. We are thrilled to report that these cumulative percentages mark the best results yet for RMS, excluding the “COVID-adjusted years” of 2020 and 2021.
Following last week’s fantastic A-level results, we look forward to seeing this accomplished group continue to thrive as they embark on their journey in the Sixth Form this September.
Headteacher, Kevin Carson, commented:
“I am incredibly proud of this brilliant year group of students. At the top end, to attain 40% grades 8-9 is exceptional. In truth, the students have stretched their potential to the max at all levels. GCSE grades don’t define who you are, but they are a fitting reward and recognition for how hard this year group and the teachers have worked throughout the GCSE course. I’m excited to see these students continue to thrive as they move on to Sixth Form.”
