Congratulations to Year 9 pupil Elizabeth, who was selected as a semi-finalist in a recent global art competition from 1,200 qualifying pieces of artwork from 66 different countries.
This Science Without Borders® Challenge, set by the Living Oceans Foundation, is an international contest that engages students and teachers in ocean conservation through art.
This year, students were asked to create a piece of artwork that highlights the beauty and importance of a marine species on the brink of extinction. You can see Elizabeths’s inspiring entry below.
In the 11-14 years category, Elizabeth made it through to the semi-final along with 36 other remarkable pieces of artwork, spanning 13 countries around the world.

Not only was their artwork impressive, but they also excelled in providing clear explanations in their written descriptions, detailing the reasons why these marine organisms are facing endangerment.
