Delegates from RMS recently made waves when they attended the highly anticipated Model United Nations Conference, held at Haberdashers’ Boys’ School between the 10th and 12th March.
Our Model United Nations (MUN) club is just one of the many co-curricular activities that students in Senior School can participate in. MUN is an engaging and interactive activity that allows students in Years 10 to 13 to assume the roles of United Nations delegates and simulate UN committees.
During the weekend, students engaged in various activities that aimed to replicate the operations of the United Nations. These activities involved researching a country, assuming the role of a diplomat, investigating international issues, debating, deliberating, consulting, and developing solutions to global problems.
We’re incredibly proud of our MUN students, offering a fresh and creative perspective on such important global issues. They could certainly teach our current world leaders a thing or two about the power of cooperation and collaboration!
- Ms Hardy, Deputy Head Academic
At the General Assembly, RMS students represented Argentina, the U.K., and Morocco, where they discussed significant issues such as the war in Yemen and nuclear disarmament.
Angelina, a Year 12 student, represented the U.K. in a speech to the General Assembly, impressively responding to the queries of delegates from Afghanistan, Poland, and Russia with diplomatic finesse.
Furthermore, Angelina won the ‘best delegate’ award for her participation in the UN Crisis committee. Participants discussed the global response to unfolding human rights issues in Iran. Well done to everyone involved!
