As part of our excellent LEAD employability programme, RMS was delighted to welcome Dale Willis from My First Great Job today to deliver an intensive LinkedIn workshop for our Year 12 students.
In an increasingly digital professional landscape, a student’s online presence is often their first introduction to future employers or university admissions tutors. Dale’s workshop provided our students with the tools to navigate this space with confidence, ensuring they are not just participants in the digital world, but leaders within it.
Why LinkedIn for Year 12? While many associate LinkedIn with established professionals, Dale emphasised that Year 12 is an ideal time to start a profile. As his website highlights, LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network, and for students, it serves as a “living CV” that allows them to showcase their skills, extracurricular achievements, and the insights gained from our Futures programme long before they enter the job market.
Practical Skills for Future Success
During the interactive session, students learned how to:
- Build a professional profile that stands out to recruiters.
- Articulate the skills developed through the LEAD course.
- Connect with RMS alumnae and industry leaders safely and effectively.
- Research university courses and degree apprenticeships through the platform.
The RMS LEAD Employability course runs throughout Year 12, bringing in sector specialists like Dale to ensure our students are well-prepared for the recruitment processes of tomorrow. This workshop follows a series of recent industry talks at RMS covering everything from Engineering and Law to Digital Marketing and Film.
By equipping our students with these networking skills today, we are ensuring they have a head start in shaping their future within their chosen fields tomorrow.
