Uma in Year 7 has been awarded the prestigious Super Badger Award! We caught up with her to learn more about what this achievement means to her and her journey with St John’s Ambulance.
What inspired you to join St John Ambulance and progress from a Badger to a Cadet?
The thing that inspired me to join St John Ambulance was first when I am older I want to be a doctor as they are amazing and help lots of people every day, I also joined as I like helping people and first aid is one of the many things that help people on a day to day basis!
Can you tell us more about the special award you received and what it means to you?
To me the super badger award means trying my very best to help others when they are in need or are finding it difficult to do something.
As a Cadet what will be your main responsibilities and duties?
I think as a cadet, my main responsibilities will be going on duties with my peers to help treat casualties and helping my family and friends to understand the importance of knowing just a little bit of first aid can do a lot.
What skills or experiences have you gained through your journey with St John Ambulance so far?
Some skills I have learned so far are, CPR, mouth to mouth, the recovery position, how to use a defibrillator/AED, how to treat a burn and how to treat severe bleeding!
Congratulations to Uma for all her hard work and dedication!
