On Monday and Tuesday this week, our enthusiastic Year 9 pupils set out for two days of exciting work shadowing.
To understand how a working environment works, students joined their friends and family’s workplaces. Among these were companies such as Britvic Soft Drinks, Santander, TSK, Deloitte, Mott Macdonald and some students were placed right here at RMS.
I’ve learnt that our teachers do a lot more outside the classroom, there’s huge amount of preparation that goes into our lessons and our school that makes everything run so smoothly

Tori and Clara spend the two days at Westbrook Hay Prep School and made a great impression on the Headteacher, who commented “If I could have kept them on and employed them now I would!”.
Our Head of Careers, Miss Pickford, said that she organised the work shadowing so that Year 9’s could learn how to translate what they learn in lessons into a workplace environment.
I hope they’ll appreciate how different the workplace is and how many different roles there are out there for them. They can also gain an understanding of what qualifications people in a workplace have and what skills they need for their future

Well done to all our Year 9’s for making the most of this opportunity through their hard work, maturity and positive attitude.
